Overview

A successful Law firm based in Manchester are currently recruiting for a Head of Finance. Reporting directly into the Managing Partner; You will manage all general ledger transactions and the Firm's management accounting consolidation. You will be main point of contact for internal and external audit, VAT queries and, through process adherence and managing the execution of key controls, ensuring the integrity of our transactional and reporting systems. This role proactively supports the Managing Partner with analysis and insight. The role will lead the timely and accurate production of reports for the firm's management teams ,to facilitate decision making and ensure efficient and effective practices are adopted, as well reporting for HMRC purposes Key responsibilities Manage the team, setting appropriate goals, performing regular reviews and providing constructive and honest feedback; Plan and review key deliverables to ensure work is of a high quality and delivered on time; Maintain and communicate the partnership financial reporting requirements , which determines how and when major works (such as month-end, quarter-end and budget) are delivered to the business by the function ; Ensure process notes exist and are regularly maintained for all team deliverables Working closely with external accountants, provide support to the partnership individually and collectively by monitoring current and capital accounts status and ensuring compliance with all HRMC requirements. Provide support to the Risk Committee by developing and reviewing financial controls to support AML activities Through the team, deliver the month end close and reporting deadlines, ensuring that the Firm's accounting policies are followed and that the accounts present an accurate view of the Firm's results Point of contact for HRMC enquiries Provide guidance on processes and utilise technology to problem solve, to the team and the wider business; Based on feedback or KPI targets, adopt a continuous improvement approach, identify potential developments to the team's output, manage the enhancement process, engage stakeholders and ensure objectives are delivered; Gain an understanding of the commercial drivers of the firm and how these are represented in the reporting output of the team; ; Thorough knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and SRA reporting requirements Experience of staff management; Experienced at preparing and reviewing monthly financial reports; Ability to gain a good overview as well as being prepared to get involved in the detail; In order to be considered for the position you will be an existing Head of Finance in a Law Firm or Professional Services business.
