Overview
I am currently working on behalf of a market leading Private healthcare company that is seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to join their existing staff team in the Hertfordshire area. The role is based in a purpose built Mental Health Hospital offering services within medium secure, low secure, for men and women. The role itself will have clinical responsibility for patients and their treatment plans on a medium secure female ward and half of a low secure male ward. Duties of the role include: Taking overall responsibility and charge of the medical care of all the patients on the post holders unit Holding and chairing weekly patient review meetings Reviewing each of their inpatients at least weekly ensuring assessments are documented Taking clinical responsibility for patients including Patient review meetings, risk reviews, strategic reviews Contributing to in-house training programmes Contributing to the development and evaluation of services Taking part in medically related audits The key skills and experience required include: GMC and specialist registration (CCT/CESR) in Forensic Psychiatry Royal College of Psychiatrists membership (MRCPsych) or equivalent An MBBS (or equivalent) medical qualification Strong interpersonal qualities of teamwork and communication are essential as is evidence of a commitment to training and professional development. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patient's’ care and treatment. Formulating plans for psychological treatment and/or management of a patient’s presenting difficulties.
