Overview
Are you an experienced UI Designer who has an analytical mind and the drive to create the right solutions for the end user? We're looking for a UI Designer (Web) to join the digital team in our Group Marketing department, located in Fulwood Preston. This is a new position to support the ambitious growth plans of the business which grew by 200 staff in 2019 and is forecast to do the same again in 2020. You'll report directly to the Web Development Manager within our digital function, led by our Director of Digital, Ecommerce and Direct Marketing. Working closely with the wider marketing team, you'll endeavour to optimise the end user experience of our various digital platforms, assets & journeys, employing agile ways of working alongside the digital development team. Initially you'll be responsible for optimizing the end user experience for our customers across our digital products, varying in scope from a single form control, to full site designs. You'll analyse user data & behaviours to identify pain points in the experience, then propose, prototype and test potential solutions, before working closely with the in-house development team to turn successful prototypes into fully functional solutions. Initially we'd be expecting you to: Identify & prioritise user wants and needs Produce low & high-fidelity mock-ups & prototypes (Software of choice) Hypothesise and design measurable & actionable A/B & MVT tests Collaborate with developers on bringing an experience to life Longer term, we'd work with you to add some the following to your responsibilities: Conduct usability research & interviews, utilising a variety of data collection tools & techniques Design objective & informative user surveys Run stakeholder discovery & interview sessions Run end user discovery, interview & testing sessions Understand, document and communicate end to end user journeys and experiences Being an advocate for great design within the team Web | User Interface | Design | Marketing | Digital | Web Design | MVT | A/B | Coding | User Experience | Communication | Analysis | Data Benefits 22 days holiday bank holidays that increase every year / Dress down Fridays / Fresh Fruit Mondays / Healthcare scheme / Pension Scheme / Life assurance / Charity events / Ability to purchase extra holiday Essential Skills We're looking for someone who has a good working knowledge of user interface design with some practical experience, and lots of passion for great design and digital customer experience. Over time we'll work with you to develop you & the role into a full User Experience Designer, adding user research, information architecture, and full multi-channel user journeys to your responsibilities, spanning the entire User Experience, from start to finish. The role will also include training and development by the user experience specialists at our digital agency partner. We're looking for someone with: Some Web and/or UI Design experience, be that academic or on the job A keen eye for detail Strong verbal and written communication skills If you also have coding skills, this is something that you will have the opportunity to use and develop An interesting portfolio of work from either studies, work or side projects This will be a challenging but rewarding role, capable of having significant impact on the business, and the experiences of our customers.
