Tech Lead
Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Lead to inspire, mentor and provide technical leadership for the team responsible for the development of our real-time sports data solutions. Monterosa is the award-winning leader in audience interaction technology, behind some of the biggest interactive TV shows and sporting events including Love Island, EA Sport/Premier League Player of the Month and many others. All of our products and fan experiences are powered by our LViS platform . Our small and friendly team is distributed between London, Liverpool and Minsk with strong ties and everyday collaboration between us. You will take a full-stack view of your projects, taking responsibility for architecture and technical delivery across all disciplines. For this role you will need to be a great communicator and team player, able to explain business requirements to developers and technical challenges to business in a concise and constructive way. What you'll be doing Technical vision - ownership of team products, detailed technical architecture, identification of re-use / productisation opportunities, and prototyping and investigation of new technology Problem solving and escalation - awareness of technical risks in team’s projects, anticipation of technical issues, involvement in client discussions around issues, escalation to group technical manager as needed Self Training & Development - self-training and development, group training with other tech leads, attendance of relevant conferences and events Estimation and budgeting - early stage high-level estimates to support growth team, detailed estimation of tasks with team to support sprint planning, support budgeting and contracting process as needed, identification of up-selling opportunities Reporting - knowledge of status / risks for all team projects, stats for live apps / sites, reporting current status, risks and stats into group and wider company Weekly team management - one-to-one meeting with each developer in your team, regular review of holiday plans, regular review of training & development plans Planning development - workshop and planning sessions with producer and other team members, UX discussions with design team, story writing, detailed acceptance criteria for all stories Managing Development - kickoff meetings, daily standup meetings/calls, weekly client calls, backlog management, estimation of effort, review and sharing of regular internal builds, sprint and project retrospectives Hands-on development management - clarify the business requirements to the development team, clarify the architecture to the development team, collect feedback from the development team, escalate concerns, discuss with producer and change plans if needed, be aware of and enforce development best practices (git flow, logging, code review, chores automation, etc) Supporting launch planning - UAT, pre-launch planning, live support planning, post-launch updates Supporting documentation - technical documentation, internal documentation, devops documentation / how-tos Team Training & Development - on-boarding new developers in team, training & development plan for each developer in group Sharing best practice - ensure that the learnings from the team’s work, both good and bad, are shared widely around the company, through documents on Confluence as well as tech talks and within the tech lead community, document and share the best bits from any training course, events or conferences attended What we're looking for 5 years’ proven technical leadership to inspire, mentor and provide technical leadership for the team responsible for the development of our real-time sports data solutions Experience to take a full-stack view of your projects, taking responsibility for architecture and technical delivery across all disciplines Full Stack JavaScript experience, bonus if that experience is in the following: Node, React, React Native, NoSQL DB (Redis), Koa, WebSockets, three.js or other 3D experience in JavaScript Experience with Unix commands Experience with large, complex real time systems consuming data from various client-server API’s A great communicator and team player, able to explain business requirements to developers and technical challenges to business in a concise and constructive way A willingness and proven ability to take responsibility and be there when it counts, and ability to learn, adapt, innovate, anticipate and look into the future Common sense, analytical, self-reflective, creative, responsible and open minded, with excellent verbal and written English presentation skills Being a Tech Lead is demanding and requires experience and capability combined robust character, clarity of thinking, problem-solving, resilience and ability to learn quickly We’re looking for all-rounders with passion, drive and attention to detail What's on offer 25 days' holiday (Plus Bank Holidays) Modern office in a popular London area Flexible working hours, with r egular work from home Private Health Insurance/g ym membership (Optional) Cycle to work scheme Annual Conference and Training Budget Regular social events Good transport links, close to Farringdon, Chancery Lane and Kings Cross Stations Monterosa is one of the most rewarding and challenging places anyone can work in technology and entertainment.
