The duties of this post include Inclusion (PEF), Curriculum Development and supporting the Nursery Development St Martin's RC primary School serves the needs of Roman Catholic and non-denominational pupils in Tranent and surrounding areas. St Martin's is a single storey building set in extensive grounds. There are seven classes from PI P 7 and a 20/20 nursery class. There is a dining room and a gym/assembly hall and a library system running in the school with the support of parent helpers. A co-operative framework of support from home, school and church surrounds our children. As well as being committed to ensuring every child receives a high quality of education and achieves the highest possible standard of achievement. St Martin's is also committed to celebrating success and working with the wider community. Pupils throughout the whole school are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour and are active participants in the decision making process. The school encourages all staff and pupils to be leaders of learning through the school improvement plan and many new co-ordinator roles have been recently established. Our learning teams support leadership at all levels and we pride ourselves on developing real life skills for life, learning and work. St Martin's has an active Parent Council and parents are actively encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life. St Martin's has a breakfast club and after-school club. Our staff also offer a wide range of after-school clubs including a variety of sports and expressive arts. Job Details Subject to the policies of the school and the Council, the duties of Principal Teachers are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct. These should give reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to: Curricular development and quality assurance. Contribute to the development of school policy in relation to the behaviour management of pupils. The management and guidance of colleagues. Review the CPD needs, career development and performance of colleagues. Provision of advice, support and guidance to colleagues. Responsible for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of pastoral care within the school. Assist in the management, deployment and development of pastoral care staff. Implement whole school policies dealing with guidance issues, pastoral care, assessment and pupil welfare. Working in partnership with colleagues, parents and other specialist agencies as appropriate. Working alongside class teachers to share best practice and take forward the Improvement Plan priorities. Participate in the overall administration of the school. In these circumstances, acalculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted.
