Overview

Process Manager Our chosen business partner are looking at recruiting a Process Manager to join their manufacturing facility in Lancashire. They are a specialist manufacturer of automotive trim components. Some products are supplied with micro-perforations which are necessary on most compression moulding processes. They are experiencing a steady increase in orders from the US and are investing quite heavily within new machinery. If successful you will be responsible for the effective management of the department, ensuring that production plans are achieved to the required timescales and quality standards whilst adhering to health and safety procedures. Key Responsibilities; Lead continuous effort to improve operations, decrease lead times and streamline work processes. Liase with other departments to ensure that business objectives are met within agreed timescales. Maintain good employee relations via two-way communication. Deliver key business messages through regular, formal communication such as monthly team briefings and up-to-date notice boards (ensuring employees are notified of any changes). Determine work requirements, priorities and best use of resources (people and machines) for scheduled orders as well as unplanned requirements. Provide guidance to staff regarding work procedures, technical issues, priorities and special requests from customers. Troubleshoot operational problems and take corrective action to resolve them. Lead and participate in the study of operations and processes and recommend changes to improve methods, procedures and operational efficiency. Promote team ehtics and develop team working through leadership. Motivate, train and develop departmental employees and consolidate training records. Manage and participate in administrative duties such as the completion of production paperwork and employees’ time and attendance. Accurately enter/extract data from MAX and take any necessary actions resulting from this. Conduct return to work interviews, disciplinary/grievance meetings as required. Set appropriate guidelines regarding safe working practices, lead by example, write and maintain risk assessments and ensure that Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the department. Set appropriate guidelines regarding departmental quality standards and procedures. Other duties as directed by the Head of UK Operations & Facilities. Key Requirements; Experience of managing in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to contribute strategically and operationally. Structured logical approach to problem solving and study of processes/procedures. Strong communication, presentation and written skills. Able to write clear specifications and procedures. High standard of computer literacy i.e. ability to use Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) and experience of using a manufacturing system. Accuracy and attention to detail. Awareness and experience of managing Health and Safety issues and conducting risk assessments. Experience of working in the automotive sector and specifically to ISO TS 16949. Awareness of ISO 14001. Experience and trained in management techniques and/or continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, TPM, 5S’s, Business Improvement Techniques etc. Health and Safety based qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or Risk Assessment.
