Contract Production MS SQL Server DBA, Database Administrator, SSRS Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, West Midlands OR Nottingham / Mansfield. You Decide 6 Months Good chance of extension £300 - £400 per day. Starts ASAP Leading Retail Distribution Systems Company requires contract MS SQL Server DBA to maintain a high standard of data quality, performance and integrity throughout company databases as well as ensuring Database Security within the IT / end user teams. My client operates several SQL Server instances from SQ Server 2005 - 2017 (lots of 2012) and have some Oracle instances that underpin business applications. The Role: Database administration in UAT, Pre-Production & Production environments Work closely with the application developers and infrastructure team to deliver performance tuning and optimization of SQL and the bespoke applications Monitor database performance Monitor and maintain database storage resources Monitor and maintain database maintenance plans for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics Maintain database documentation as required Maintain and administer database security access Perform database Ad-hoc backups and restores Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues Undertake start of day checks and resolve issues Knowledge of MS SQL Server disaster recovery technologies Exercise knowledge of Oracle database technologies Proactively monitor and respond to MS SQL Server database Alerts Install database software service packs and cumulative updates as necessary Ability to liaise with Developers, Managers and Senior Managers Required Skills and Experience: You're an experienced production DBA, who's passionate about quality data, performance and optimization and are now ready to jump into a high visibility role Experience of Oracle database support A track record in successfully delivering performance tuning and optimization improvements in a production system You are able to take ownership of the DB environments and contribute toward the roadmap planning of the applications that utilize them Experience with both PaaS & IaaS in the Cloud would be an asset You may have had experience in designing and supporting SQL server, BI platforms (SSRS) and Data Warehouses (nice to have) The Technologies and methodologies in use: Microsoft SQL Server Oracle SSRS & Web focus Visual Studio TFS (for source control) ITIL Redgate Please send CV now for immediate consideration Contract Production MS SQL Server DBA, Database Administrator, SSRS, Some Oracle Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham or Near Nottingham and Mansfield
