Planning Engineer
Overview
Our client a leading Energy Provider are seeking a Planning Engineer for a 6 month contract role based in South Lanarkshire. The Planner Engineer is directly responsible for the production, change control, risk management and reporting of high quality project plans for £2.3bn of transmission projects and for the overall Projects Masterplan Accountability Production and updating of high quality project plans within Microsoft Project Enterprise Ensuring that plans exist and are developed to a level appropriate with the stage of the project lifecycle Take a pro-active approach to developing project plans, sourcing investment papers, leading multi-functional team activity Engage with internal stakeholders (Purchasing, Consents, Design, remainder of Projects) at a working and management level to provide relevant information, ensure updates and actions are progressed and escalate as required Use project plans to pinpoint programme inter-dependencies or clashes. Communicate these and lead development of solutions Co-ordinate between multi functional teams to resolve identified project or programme issues Ensure the plan includes all RIIO projects, activity plans, and present overall plan to stakeholders. Ensure all key plans from across Energy Networks feed in to Projects Masterplan: Legal & consenting Design Engineering Purchasing Include any capacity and resource requirements within programmes and liaise with relevant stakeholders Manage handover of financial, SAP and programme information to Delivery Analysts and ensure fully embedded within applicable processes. Dimensions The Planner will be a central point of contact for all stakeholders in Energy Networks to provide insight into the RIIO T1 plan. Daily interactions with the following senior managers and their teams Environment Planning Manager Transmission Wayleaves Manager Engineering Design Manager Business Unit Managers Programme Unit Managers Project Managers Develop and manage plans for the delivery of a portfolio of projects with CAPEX investment levels £1,300M over RIIO T1 Produce progress reports for Director and ENET Skills & Knowledge Sound understanding of general principles of project management Good verbal and written communications skills Strong influencing and stakeholder management ability Highly Numerate and analytical Adept with planning software tools Able to understand financial models and manage budgets Working knowledge of Regulatory principles Working knowledge and understanding of major projects development and delivery process PC literate Educated to degree level in a relevant numeric discipline or equivalent experience Special Requirements Experience of planning using MSPe and/ or Primavera Experience of tracking and co-ordinating multi-project programmes Minimum Criteria Entry Qualification: Specific: PC literate with strong spreadsheet modelling skills Educated to degree level in a relevant numeric discipline or equivalent experience.
