Overview
A committed Development Engineer is urgently required by an established and high regarded Science & Technology Company The role offers a wide variety of opportunities in software , electronics and mechanical engineering and would suit someone with 1-2yrs experience who is looking to expand on existing skills base whilst diversifying in peripheral areas that match their out of work interests. E.g. mechanical engineer with who does Raspberry Pi development at home. There are a variety of skills/experiences that would be suitable for this Development Engineer role. Essential Engineering Degree in either · Mechanical · Electronics · Electro-Mechanical · Mechatronics · Software Industry based experience in either of these areas are enough to be consider, but any experience and/or interest in a second specialisation would set you apart from the rest. Desirable combination of knowledge for the Development Engineer : · An understanding of first engineering principles, advanced engineering methods and design and process excellence methodologies. · Experience of CAM/CAD systems (such as Inventor, AutoCAD, Proteus, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Ideas, NX, or CATIA) · A basic level of knowledge of the principles of electronic circuit design and PCB manufacture · Some experience of using software for instrument testing and control (e.g. Python, Labview or similar). Overall the Development Engineer is a highly influential role in the design of the scientific instruments and equipment made by this company and covers duties like; · Supporting devices currently in production · Carry out new product developments having significant technical input in the electro-mechanical design. · Able to build and test new electro-mechanical products ( including writing simple software e.g. Python ). · Support the transition of prototypes from R&D into production. · Responsible for producing creative designs whilst achieving the targets and deadlines of the project(s).
