Overview

Top bank in the City of London is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Assurance officer at Graduate level The company: A global banking group in the City of London seeks a graduate to join their Regulatory Operations & Compliance team to support in the assurance testing of their trade reporting functions. What does that mean? Every bank must report on the trades & transactions they conduct to the relevant regulatory bodies that are tasked with overseeing their respective markets. (In the UK, this would be the FCA) This reporting requirement can become very complicated due to the high volumes of trades conducted daily around the world and the sophistication of the products traded. This is a new team within the firm with a focus on assuring that the Trade Reporting functions of the bank are operating in full compliance with the regulators in the UK, EU and the USA amongst others. The Roie: Initially, you will be involved in project work assisting with the delivery of completeness and accuracy checks across multiple regimes. In parallel, as the controls are rolled out, you will be responsible for the daily investigation of exceptions that may arise from these controls, liaising with various areas of the bank (including other operations teams, the Front Office, Compliance and Technology). You will also be responsible for the preparation and distribution of management/stakeholder reports. Candidates must have researched the regulatory initiatives such as MiFID, EMIR and REMIT in order to be successful as these regulations outline the frameworks and policies that the bank must adhere to financial markets, you will be able to pick up information quickly, take ownership of the operating effectiveness of the assurance testing and have good relationship management and influencing skills. You will have a strong eye for detail and an analytical mind in order to drive the team's success. Additionally, you will have strong investigation skills and a further understanding of APAC, European and North American Regulations would be advantageous. This is a newly created role within the organisation and will be extremely wide ranging in context as you will be involved in conducting assurance and testing exercises on the regulatory reporting framework, monitoring processes and liaising with all of the departments involved to ensure that nothing is missed. The candidate: Degree educated, 2:1 or better. Knowledge of reporting requirements under EMIR, MiFID and REMIT (full training will be given but there is a high expectation that you will be aware of these regulations at the interview stage - failure to have researched these controls will result in being rejected). A strong sense of self-confidence with the ability to engage with senior managers A good understanding of Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint - knowledge of database querying using technology like SQL would be a distinct advantage Excellent interpersonal skills (Verbal, Written & presenting). A highly investigative mindset that can view problems from nuanced detail to the big picture Very, very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence decision-makers within the firm This role would suit someone who has had some experience in a customer facing environment as you will be engaging with other departments of the bank constantly.
