We are seeking fun loving, caring and passionate full or part-time Support Workers to help support George to live as independently as possible whilst providing the care and attention he needs to live a life that that makes sense to him. George is a gentlemen with ASD and Tourette's syndrome so previous experience with these conditions will be most favourable. George will really benefit from having structure and consistency in his approach and support and we're determined to give him just that. You will come to play a key part in the process of helping George develop and grow in conjunction with the team. George will live at home with his Dad alongside our support team. You will be providing full support with a range of activities from the everyday living needs and ‘must dos’ (such as assisting with picking the appropriate clothing for the day, prompts with personal care, medications, supporting with attending health and medical appointments), through to the lighter side of life doing things like becoming involved with the local community, socialising with family and friends with whom he has close relationships with. George can display behaviours of concern in the form of self harm but we will provide you with all the training and support you'll need to be fully prepared should a situation arise. You will support by following the PBS (positive behaviour support) plan to help provide George with a calm and stable environment. This is a 24/7 hour service (except in school hours) but we'll have both full and/or part time hours open . The hours are worked on a shift basis to include sleep-ins with the rota covering days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This will be a challenging but hugely rewarding role for the right person. You'll be joining at a pinnacle time for George to help set the foundations for his support plan and his development going forward. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no 2 days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it’s something you’ll never forget. This post may suit someone who is resilient, kind, caring and empathetic to the needs of others. You may already have experience of working with people with ASD and/or Tourette's syndrome although full training and support will be given along with full PBS training with regular supervision with our experienced team. The main and most important quality for us is having the passion to want to make a real difference - this is something we cannot teach.
