Overview

Our client, a well-established Top 20 accountancy firm, is looking to recruit an Audit & Accounts Manager/Assistant Manager to join the team at its office on the outskirts of maidenhead. The firm will consider applications at Manager or Assistant Manager level. The key focus of this role will be to provide a high-quality service to audit clients, ensuring that GAPP compliance and adherence to UK law is maintained at all times and providing guidance on regulatory matters. You will be responsible for your own portfolio of clients and will be responsible for the management, training and development of the audit and accounts team. Working with other mangers and reporting to the partners, responsibilities will include: Proactive planning and management of audits and client work, ensure planning meetings are held with clients and that client engagement documentation is up to date Supervise, assist and mentor junior team members To delegate and review work of junior team members including; audit files, draft documentation, accounts and corporation tax computations Dealing with client queries, attend client meetings and agreeing time and financial budgets Draft client invoices, chase outstanding invoices and assisting with proposals for new work Regular review of client WIP and debtor Planning and executing the longer-term strategy with the departmental partner including involvement in the recruitment process Undertake special or one-off projects to assist with the development of the practice Managing a team to ensure the efficient preparation of accounts for a variety of small clients Carry out review work on accounts and other assignments Delegate analysis work to more junior staff and monitor progress, including reviewing work once complete prepared by team members Travelling to client premises as required and attending marketing events Providing advice to owner managers on both business and personal matters Assisting the departmental manager with providing feedback to team members as well as assistance with conducting mid-year and annual appraisals The responsibilities above lean towards the Manager position with the Assistant Manager role would have slightly lower level of responsibility. To be considered for this Audit & Accounts Manager/Assistant Manager role, you will have the following knowledge, skills and experience: Qualified ACA or ACCA (other comparable qualifications may be considered) with extensive audit experience gained within practice Excellent IT skills; MS Office (especially Excel) and proficient in audit, accounts and tax software Confidence to actively participate in team meetings making a wide range of suggestions, make decisions, solve problems and take appropriate action Experience of charity and academy audit and SRA accounts rules reviews Be an excellent communicator, both in writing and verbally Adapt leadership style for different team members, effectively nurture and supervise the team and deal confidently and positively with underperformance issues Ability to identify high calibre candidates and to be competent at interviewing To demonstrate an understanding of employment legislation, especially the Equality Act Ability to prioritise workload to achieve client accounting deadlines and day to day work To demonstrate good timekeeping skills as well as displaying a professional attitude This well-established practice will offer the successful candidate a competitive salary and benefits package, a supportive working environment and the opportunity to thrive within a dynamic team.
