Overview

My client provides advice to our clients on transport planning and (highway) infrastructure design matters. The core business covers the transport and highway aspects of development proposals including feasibility studies, planning applications, Local Plan allocations, section 106/278 agreements and occasional planning appeals. Working in a small , busy and friendly office in central Bath, their aim is to expose their staff to as many aspects of their projects as possible, which typically include: · A variety of housing developments mostly up to around 200 dwellings but with occasional strategic sites up to 2,000 dwellings. · A wide range of employment development around the country, including strategic sites. · New and expanding mineral extraction and waste management/energy from waste sites. · Advising on Bath Rugby’s proposed new stadium at The Rec. · The position will appeal to an enthusiastic candidate looking for a varied workload, who wishes to gain experience in a friendly company with a reputation for delivering high quality work. Applicants must either be EU nationals, or hold a current permit enabling them to work in the UK. A full clean UK driving licence would be expected. Overseas students will need to have achieved a minimum of IELTS level 8 in listening, reading, writing and speaking. Competence in the following would be an advantage to candidates: Commissioning and analysis of traffic counts, presenting data diagrammatically in Excel. Liaison with local authorities etc to obtain traffic, accident and mapping data etc. Use of the TRICS database. Use of TEMPRO to apply traffic growth. Junction modelling in Junctions 9, TRANSYT and LINSIG. Basic drawing skills in AutoCAD. Vehicle swept path analysis. Producing plans of site locations, pedestrian walk isochrones and bus routes. Reliable and comprehensive analysis of public transport availability. An understanding of the principles of the planning system and transport policies. Technical report writing. The principles of workplace and residential travel plans.
