Start ASAP for 2-3 Months We are recruiting for an experienced Research Administrator to join one of London’s leading Universities. If you have previous experience gained within a Higher Education institute , we’d love to hear from you MAIN DUTIES: To guide research staff through the submission process for research grants. Raise grant budget costings on research costing tools and ensure grant proposals are correctly budgeted. Liaise with the Research Services staff to enable the submission and approval of all grant applications. Assist with the submission of Research Council proposals on internal portal Liaise with Senior Research and Contracts Administrator for complex multi-institutional proposals. Update reporting spread sheet for proposals and maintain proposal files. To assist the Research Services staff with the completion of paperwork for awarded projects. To liaise with Principle Investigators (PIs) and facilitate the administrative processes for the set-up of new projects and grants. Budgeting and financial monitoring To set out budgets for awarded projects, advising PIs and other related parties regarding eligible expenditure, with respect of the financial and HR policies and those of the funding body. Monitor monthly expenditure on projects and update forecasting. To make purchase orders and process expenses relating to projects. To assist PIs and other related parties to administer their funds effectively and in accordance with grant T&C’s. Reporting To generate reports for awarding institutions on project expenditure and progress usually on a monthly or quarterly basis. Liaise with funders to ensure satisfactory reporting and troubleshooting enquiries. Keep timely and accurate records of internal income and expenditure and maintain grant files To support the processes for submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) Compile up to date list of research outputs and act as RPS-master for the Institutes To advise and support staff to complete EU and other timesheets. General Support the Senior Research and Contracts Administrator on ad-hoc tasks. The post holder will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations. To actively follow and promote policies, including Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Educated to A level or equivalent experience with GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above and hold a Undergraduate degree or equivalent level of knowledge and experience Computer literacy, including competency in desktop applications including Microsoft Word, Excel (reporting) and Outlook as well as ability to use spreadsheets with formulas Excellent oral and written communication skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar and attention to detail Capable of developing an understanding and ability to analyse research proposals and business plans and being able to offer constructive comments and feedback Ability to independently prioritise and organise own workload in a proactive manner to meet time-critical schedules Good numeracy and data analysis skills with the ability to deal with high volumes of processing while maintaining accuracy Experience of providing administrative support to senior staff Experience or understanding of university funding administration A familiarity with Research Councils and UK/international funding agencies Due to time constraints and the number of applications we will only be able to respond personally to successful candidates.
