Our client is an award-winning dairy. We are delighted to assist them in their search for a Technical Manager at their site in the North Yorkshire Dales on a Monday-Friday basis, however flexibility will be required during peak times. Reporting into the Head of Technical, you will be expected t o work in a coherent and collaborative manner with internal managers, board members and customers to take responsibility in of all aspects of this busy production facility including technical strategy, actively support and drive quality improvement projects/plans, H&S, all aspects of hygiene, legal labelling, employment law and any other aspects where you will be one of the senior technical persons on site, taking responsibility for all aspects of technical compliance. Key Responsibilities · Responsible for, compliance to BRC and retailer standards and systems · Have experience of retailer systems and protocols (M&S, Tesco, JS, Morrisons, Asda etc.) · Cheese making and factory performance, all products meeting agreed quality attributes every day in full. · Work with the production teams to monitor performance of and deliver agreed KPI’s across all production lines. · Manage and monitor incoming raw materials and agree cheese-make changes as appropriate · Monitor site hygiene – police and advise on corrective action plans · Formulate and define (with support) the site GMP standards. · Promote, enforce and implement a positive culture of GMP. · Monitor trends in chemical and microbiological standards of cheese and other products; shape and deliver improvement plans · Manage lab functions and personnel including training needs, quality management standards. · To oversee the supplier approval process for the business, managing technical demands across all areas. · Understand age and grade profiles of cheese made at site. · To work closely with NPD & Sales team on specific projects. · Understand the requirements of the Supply Chain Team and support with technical guidance · Have a sound understanding of the principles of H&S, HACCP, TACCP etc. · HACCP team member at the Hawes site. · Equipment hygiene & condition Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Experience in a high-volume manufacturing/processing environment from a food background Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be detail oriented Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate & develop employees Excellent organisation/prioritisation skills Proven critical thinking and problem solving skills Solid understanding of health & safety protocols This is a truly great opportunity to come into a well-established and traditional set-up.
