Principal Engineer - Track, Manchester £50,000 - £60,000 An award-winning multidisciplinary solutions business have a unique opportunity for a Principal Engineer to lead and direct a team of Track engineers. The role: You will be a well experienced Track engineer as alongside overseeing the Track engineers and technicians, you will also act as Track CRE and have the chance to take lead on the client relationship management and business development of the section. You will develop the Track engineering team to ensure skills are available to meet business objectives Lead projects on behalf of clients as directed and allocate staff to projects to ensure delivery is to its highest standard. You will manage and develop staff daily and through the appraisal process in order to ensure the required skills are available within the department to meet business objectives Secure business by developing and maintaining contacts with clients Ensure the development and skills of the team remain ‘current’ and business opportunities are identified. Responsible for working within single discipline teams, and as part of a multidiscipline team operating with both internal and external designers as well as multifaceted client organisations Ideal Person: You will be a self-motivated team player with a passion to drive results, somebody who could be considered a role model and can lead a collaborative team. Professional qualification: Incorporated or Chartered engineer or have membership of a professional body You will have an in-depth knowledge of construction principles and standards and multi-disciplinary issues associated with Permanent Way design You will have great commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales. Experience of team management and development IT literate – Microsoft office, CAD, CRM systems Strong communicator and a proven track record of working collaboratively across teams Strong networking skills inside and out the business Takes responsibility for own development and career progression.
