The position would be based at their office in Wakefield, where they have a comprehensive team of experienced analysts, surveyors, consultants and laboratory staff. Having recently secured new Partnerships, they are looking to recruit a full time Technical Manager . The role would suit a strong and experienced manager who has excellent client facing, technical and organisational skills. The firm provides a full range of environmental services for local government, housing associations, universities, schools, national retailers, NHS trusts, the hotel and leisure industry, demolition and construction companies, manufacturing, logistics and commercial businesses. The Role The role would be varied and cover all aspects of day-to-day management, including: Supporting the existing Senior Technical Manager at the Yorkshire office. Management of the technical team to assist in achieving pre-set sales targets for the office, whilst maintaining acute commercial awareness of the industry Operational management of approximately 16 site staff, including analysts, surveyors and consultants Direct line management of two Deputy Technical Managers and a selection of senior consultants, including coaching, training, appraisals and performance management Project management of survey programmes, analytical regimes and asbestos removal works Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients and suppliers Engaging with the Sales and Marketing Team regarding strategies to secure new business in the North of England. Ensuring that all asbestos works are carried out strictly in line with our ISO17020 and ISO17025 Accreditation requirements Investigating complaints in line with our internal procedure and ensuring the customers receive a first class aftercare service Training, coaching and auditing site staff both towards authorisation and as part of the continued competency requirements laid out under ISO17020. Liaising with the Laboratory Supervisor and bulk analysts to ensure that the laboratory performs as efficiently as possible Skills and Experience The successful candidate will have the following: A combination of BOHS Proficiency Qualifications (or equivalent) such as the P402, P403, P404, P405, W505 or CCP (Asbestos)/Certificate of Competence in Asbestos Significant experience of undertaking asbestos-related site works, including analytical and/or survey works, for a period of at least 5 years Effective leadership skills, as well as the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times to motivate and drive the Technical Team forwards A strong managerial background including excellent people management skills Excellent communication, client liaison and report writing skills with a keen focus on attention to detail Have a strong work ethic and have the ability to work alone or as part of a team Have an excellent understanding of Health & Safety with respect to asbestos-related works A flexible approach to working hours Be I.T. literate (experience of working with TEAMS would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided) Full driving license Salary and Benefits Competitive salary, dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications Industry-leading overtime policy, including a generous out of hours benefits package Work-Life Balance guarantee, including a time in lieu flexible working week Paid travel time Choice of company vehicle (which is available for private use) Company paid healthcare plan Company pension (into which the company contributes 3% of qualifying earnings) 24 days' holiday per calendar year (which rises to 25 days after 3 years' service and 27 days after 5 years' service), plus the 8 statutory bank holidays The successful candidate(s) will also be given the opportunity to undertake further BOHS (or equivalent) qualifications, including the W504/CoCA and the opportunity to develop their role within the business Important Information: We endeavor to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
