Overview
REED are currently looking for a Temporary Home Care Assistant worker. Temporary contract till 01/07/2020 but could be extended You will supporting Adults in the community in there own homes across the Leicestershire area, So must be a car driver. Contracted to do 25- 35 hours a week based on a rota basis. Shifts will be split into 2 parts throughout the day so being flexible is a must. Some weekends would be included 07.00am - 13.00pm 17.00pm - 21.00pm £9.54 PAYE Purpose of the role You will support and help people return home from hospital, or prevent them from being admitted to hospital, and regain their independence, by providing reablement and urgent personal care support. You will provide short support term (up to a maximum of six weeks) which helps someone to become as independent as is possible for them, by giving them the opportunity, motivation and confidence to relearn or regain some of the skills for daily living that may have been lost as a result of illness, accident or disability. Responsiblities To deliver agreed individual reablement programmes (with guidance and instruction from the therapists and managers) which include tasks such as identifying suitable assistive technology equipment and demonstrating the safe use of such equipment, advising on strategies for managing fatigue and pain, preventing falls, using adaptive techniques e.g. one handed or seated activities. To use supportive and motivational approaches to help service users identify and achieve their goals and build confidence. To undertake a range of delegated health care tasks as required e.g. prompt Prescribed medication; support the application of prescribed creams, eye and ear drops, catheter care, prompting exercises as prescribed by the physiotherapist. To provide written observations of the person’s circumstances. Improvement or deterioration, to help with the progression and review of the reablement programme. To respond to any emergency situations, by taking the appropriate action e.g. Contacting a doctor or the ambulance service etc. Requirements Must have experience in reablement and care work for at least a year working with Adults in the community. Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or other equivalent qualification in a relevant Must be a car driver and able to provide MOT certificate and Car insurance.
