Great opportunity at our client based in Northampton but commutable from Bedford , Milton Keynes , Rugby and Leicester are a FTSE 100 Multichannel retailer operating from more than 2000 locations and employing over 28,000 people. The IT department is nearly 550 strong and growing. They seek an Infrastructure Design Analyst to join their Hosting team ideally with Windows experience . 70% of their deployments are Windows based ( the other 30% RedHat Linux ) Competitive salary to 15% bonus , private medical cover , pension scheme up to 10% max , life assurance , Company discounts across the group etc Their Hosting team are currently looking for an experienced Infrastructure design analyst to design and provide 3rd line support of applications and infrastructure solutions that support delivery and maintenance of Group IT systems, Provide technical guidance to IT management and to project teams. Ensure that design standards are developed, maintained and adhered to in both application and infrastructure delivery. Where appropriate, lead small teams in design and delivery of the solutions identified. The Hosting team predominantly provides platforms to the Group IT software engineering teams to build bespoke solutions or for third-party software vendors to deploy packages. We, therefore, work with these engineering teams or 3rd parties and the architects throughout the development lifecycle to ensure our platforms deliver the desired overall solution. The ultimate platform for these solutions could be within one of their data centres, leveraging the capabilities of the Public cloud (AWS, Google Compute or Azure) or integrating a SaaS solution into pre-existing services. Key Skills ideally Required Designing and Deploying enterprise solutions across multiple OS (Windows, Ubuntu Linux &RedHat) Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Powershell, including Desired Configure State Microsoft SCOM, VMM, WSUS and SCCM Experience in working in a virtualised environment in an enterprise class data centre. Experience of automation tooling Experience in HP and UCS Enclosures and Blades and NetApp SANs an advantage Experience of providing designing and deploying solutions on Cloud Infrastructure is an advantage Key Responsibilities; Producing high level and low level technical designs, with adherence to IT design authority processes, as well as change control processes. Delivering Proof of Concepts to demonstrate solutions Supporting infrastructure build engineers and, on some occasions, participating in the build activities, to ensure the successful introduction of a solution Defining operational acceptance testing of solutions and ensuring solutions are fully tested before being handed over to the run teams. Production of operating instructions and leading the knowledge transfer to build and support teams for new technology Providing short term support during project delivery, and ongoing fourth line support for solutions.
