Overview

Job Description We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic person with a positive 'can do’ attitude for our Senior System & Network Administrator. This role is a combination System Administration and Network Management. Approximately 60% of time will be spent maintaining the existing infrastructure, 30% spent on development and 10% involved in supporting projects or designing custom solutions for new services. The position requires a proactive interaction with both management and vendors to develop and implement new networking solutions to meet business requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the rollout and in part the design of critical network infrastructure to support Vision247 products and services, on both a strategic/long-term and immediate-term level. The role also requires an active contribution to the analytical, technical cost/CAPEX analysis during both planning & design stages as well as on-going expansion & administration of Vision247’s infrastructure. The successful candidate will also take part of an on-call rota (paid separately) to cover the service continuity over the 24h period. Key skills and attitudes required · Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN support and engineering design for voice, data, wireless and video networks at Access, Aggregation, and Core network locations · Thorough understanding of service provider TCP/IP data networks using standards and technologies including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, BGP4, STP, RSTP, 802.1q, 802.1ah, 802.1x, 802.1aq · Superior knowledge, skills and experience with routing hardware (especially Cisco), software, protocols, etc. · Strong working knowledge of structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, UPS, etc. · Strong working knowledge of the most relevant software/protocols used in a service-provider environment (MySQL, replication and clustering, LAMP, NGINX, Puppet, Nagios, Zabbix, GIT, SVN, Bash Scripting, MS Exchange, ADS, HTTP, SNMP, SMTP, Radius, LDAP) · Strong working knowledge of Linux (especially Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and Windows in server environments · Router, Switch and IP configuration experience is required · Ability to work alone as an individual contributor, as a technical lead and as a participant in a team environment · Excellent project planning, change and time management capabilities · Able to work effectively under pressure · Proactive and troubleshooting oriented Desirable Skills · Cisco CCNP/CCDP level experience or equivalent · IPTV and Video Streaming, MPEG-TS · Multicast routing, PIM and IGMP · Extreme Networks XOS configuration and troubleshooting · DWDM, MPLS/VPLS, IS-IS · Wowza Streaming Engine · H.264/265 · DVB technologies · System and Network High Availability · ITIL · DRBD, GlusterFS · Galera Cluster, Percona XtraDb · Solaris Salary: Up to 70K B.O.E.
