Overview
Optoelectronic Engineer required to lead development of new distributed sensing techniques for next generation of optoelectronic devices. This role would suit a motivated engineer with a background in optoelectronics, photonics, physics or engineering. You must have strong research skills, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a MSc and / or PhD and will responsible for the following – • Managing the technical aspects of the project, including developing a new system up to field-deployable prototype stage • Working with the R&D team, in overall responsible for the new instrument, and with the Engineering team who will launch the updated system into Production • Leading communication with customers who will trial the new technology • Supporting initial field trials as needed Ideally you will have some commercial experience of leading development of a optoelectronic device in prototype and testing stages. Candidates with similar experience in large academic or research projects will also be of interest if candidates can demonstrate leadership of the projects. Candidates for this Optoelectronic Engineer role should have the following • Experience of optical fibre and/or optics technology is required • Experience of fibre optic distributed sensing technology would be highly advantageous • High level of confidence in using electrical and optical test instruments • Proven fault finding and troubleshooting ability • Programming skills with Python, LabVIEW, Matlab, C++ would be an advantage • Good communication & organisational skills • IT Literate – Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Words • Fluent in English (spoken and written) This Optoelectronics Engineer role is a hands-on position where the candidate is responsible for leading a development project while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ultimately transfer idea into manufactured products. You will be joining an established and well respected team that already has a range of products at market. The role is based in Elstree, commutable from Watford, Potter Barr, and North London.
