THE ROLE ITSELF Upon joining Clymac you will commence an established training program which includes both CPD approved classroom training whilst also shadowing one of our established engineers from our maintenance team.During this period you will learn about the theory of fire systems in conjunction with hands on training on existing fire alarm installations. Once you have completed your initial phase of training you will be allocated a number of sites where you will be responsible for contacting the customer and arranging your visits to complete the maintenance visit (PPM). Whilst attending site you will discuss the performance of the system with the customer ensuring they are happy with the system and the service they are receiving from the business. You will then make the fire system safe to work on ensuring links to the fire brigade are isolated and all sounders and relays are disabled. Once that has been completed you’ll carry out various panel function checks and then test an amount of detectors and manual call points. On completion of all testing the system will be put back into an operational state ensuring sounders and relays are reinstated and any links to the fire brigade are active. Any faults identified during visit will be rectified (where permitted and within the engineers technical ability), finally you will liaise again with the customer to discuss any findings during your visit. Customer focus is very important to us and key behavioural qualities our teams have include; being organised, having a polite and courteous manner and are pleasant and enthusiastic at all times. Once you have become comfortable with the basics of maintaining fire systems we will then introduce you to other life protection products, some of which include: • Emergency Lighting • Disabled Refuge • Nurse Call • Portable extinguishers. Where required some of our engineers are also selected to become proficient within the Security element of our business which will involve carrying out maintenance on Intruder, Access Control and also CCTV. Approximately 80% of our more senior engineers have progressed through the business either via our maintenance or apprentice teams. OTHER REQUIREMENTS • Hold recognized electrical/electronic qualification (preferable) • Full driving license (essential) WORKING HOURS • 8am to 5pm (some flexibility will be required with start/finish times), • You work from your home address (all travel paid) • Overtime will be paid when working outside of your core hours. • You will also be required to join the callout rota which is currently 1 week on call every 10 weeks.
