The day job The position of Senior Data Centre Engineer will work within the service support team to help ensure overall availability and reliability of servers and data centre equipment. This will involve providing guidance to users and support staff, server maintenance and local monitoring, server installation, testing and decommissioning, actioning trouble tickets and requests, and acting as the local hosting support representative of the wider Sopra Steria Global team. Responsibilities: Ensure valid backups are performed Ad-Hoc restore of data Installation of Server software patches and AV software Provision of additional storage as required Commission/Decommissioning of hardware Performance monitoring of Data Centre equipment Resolution of customer incidents Initial investigation of server faults and support to issue diagnostics Receipt and management to completion of trouble tickets and request regarding servers. Essential Skills Experience in server hardware maintenance, server builds and configuration Knowledge in Maintenance of virtual server infrastructure Windows/Linux System Administration in a datacentre environment for a minimum of 2 years Experience ofIAM and working in AD environment Good Customer service skills Able to work as part of a small team Maintain accurate records and documentation both written and on fault management systems Desirable Skills Knowledge of storage technologies Knowledge of server models and capabilities Understanding of LAN/WAN Technologies Willing to work out of hours and attend remote sites Experience applying ITIL methodology SC Clearance is required for this hold, all applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain Reasons why you should apply to us We’re big – really big.
