Materials Manager

Materials Manager, Oxford, £40,000 - £45,000pa plus exceptional benefits: Our client is a market leader in the development of state of the art scientific instrumentation. Due to a successful period of growth and doubling in size, they are looking for a Materials Manager to join their expanding team. This is a completely greenfield opportunity which will give the Materials Manager the chance to put their own stamp on the role and department. The role: With five direct reports, the Materials Manager will manage the team on a day to day basis, plus all over aspects of the materials function, including receipt of engineering packs and ERP setup; identification of suppliers; price negotiation, purchase and expediting; goods receiving; storage of materials; issue of materials kits to production and the timely shipping of goods. About you: The successful Materials Manager will need to possess relevant Materials Management experience and the following key experience and skills: Proven team management skills, including task delegation; staff development; objective setting; performance management, problem solving and continuous improvement. Experience in a materials management role within an engineering company. Using and/or implementing ERP systems within a project based or low volume manufacturing environment. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (typically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project). Proven commercial and negotiating skills. Experience of working within an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
