Armourer - Repair & Overhaul
Overview
Our client, one of the largest defence suppliers in the UK, providing support to all three areas of the British Armed Forces, is seeking an Armourer for their site in Dorset. They are a leading provider of critical, complex engineering services which support national defence, save lives and protect communities. Your role will include inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of weapons and armour systems, assemblies and general equipment. Manufacture of miscellaneous items. Carrying out examination tasks to meet production needs subject to necessary training and proficiency. An ex-military background is essential for this opportunity, as is a Military Class 1 Armourer Qualification. Your tasks and responsibilities will include: Diagnose, inspect and assess weapon systems, vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical / armour equipment in line with skills & competency. Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor. Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards. Ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Supervisor as soon as it is identified. Ensure all weapons systems and component parts are stored and transported securely, in accordance with relevant policies and UK firearms legislation. Report any potential or actual security related incidents or breeches immediately to line management. Maintain the requirements of COSHH, Health & Safety and other statutory regulations. Ensure a good standard of housekeeping, cleanliness and safety in the work area is maintained at all times. Comply with local policy on the correct disposal of hazardous or waste products. Inform the Supervisor of any issues which directly affect the repair process and any additional work to the task which is not detailed on the job card is deemed necessary to complete the task. Qualifications / Experience Military Class 1 Armourer Qualification Educated to Level 3 in Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) / National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in an Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering discipline as a minimum (Advanced Apprenticeship, Level 3 VRQ/NVQ) Holds valid and appropriate UK driving licence Holds valid UK driving licence with Categories C, CE and H (desirable) Competent PC user Job Title:Armourer Salary:Competitive, TBD Location:Wareham, Dorset Job Type:Perm Job ID:895537 Security Due to the nature of work undertaken at our client's site, incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules and therefore these vacancies are only open to sole British Citizens.
