The day job This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work in a varied and interesting data centre role. You will report to the Data Centre manager and work with the other Data Centre staff, to ensure that the data centre is available and secure where required. Assisting with maintenance and operation of the physical computer infrastructure, ancillary systems and physical environment. This role will involve on call and occasional travel to other sites so use of own car essential. Key responsibilities: Data Centre IMAC (Installation Moves and Changes) Racking, installation and monitoring of new Data Centre systems and environments Engage with Projects and Demand Service and assist in their delivery Work closely with other BAU service teams to ensure delivery of service Provide assistance to cover Data Centre staff absence potentially at our sister sites Management of workload where required to assist other Delivered Service teams with incident resolution Ensure Change management is implemented and followed All works to conform and satisfy CIDA Configuration Management Maintain knowledge on technical subjects relevant to role Asset management and tracking through the relevant systems Essential Skills The Infrastructure Engineer will have good working knowledge of their technology area Good working knowledge and experience of associated infrastructure engineering tools, techniques, methods within their specialist area Demonstrable experience of working as an Infrastructure Engineer on small or medium sized I.T. projects / roles Infrastructure skills covering administration, fault finding/diagnosis and fix Experience within a customer support environment Documentation Skills, with the ability to produce documents for use by an end user, as well as operational procedure documentation for use by service desk personnel Experience in infrastructure Management Be able to work as part of a team and also individually Must hold or be able to obtain DV Security Clearance Experience in an infrastructure environment Up to date exposure to an Enterprise level server and networking environment Desirable Skills Previous working experience with a Data Centre environment Certified Data Centre Technician Product experience of DELL and HP Successful Candidate will be required to gain DV Clearance for the role.
