Overview

For over 150 years, this business has built up an impressive worldwide reputation for excellence in the field of insurance claims, which they handle on behalf of insurers, underwriting agents, brokers and cargo owners. They are looking to add a graduate to their team to train as a Trainee Case Assistant. The role is will involve providing administrative support to a busy department, including data entry, information gathering, helping to prepare cases, and preparing documents using Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Plus general administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning and filing. Strong organisational and numerical skills are required- and some administrative experience would be ideal. Although the role is fairly basic for a graduate, there will be the opportunity to work towards becoming a Recovery Case Handler in the medium to long term should you wish. You would be responsible for managing the recovery aspect of a cargo claim from initial review through to settlement or closure; this includes liaising and developing working relationships with lawyers, shipping lines and others; giving guidance; preparing documentation and correspondence; negotiation; and generally organising the claim. There is some flexibility on degree type, though Law (particularly maritime), Economics, History, Philosophy or Politics graduate may be particularly relevant due to the longer-term career prospects. You will be located in Sidcup, near Bromley, Dartford and south London. Sound good?
