Support Worker / Personal Assistant 16-32 hours per week will include sleep-ins We are looking for a Personal Assistant /Support Worker to work in the Winterbourne area. You will be working in a supported living scheme which is home to 1 gentleman who has a learning disability. You will be offering support with cooking, cleaning, personal care, budgeting and finance, helping with medication and accessing the local community. You will be trained how to understand his communication and be able to communicate effectively with him. This role entails working very closely and being sensitive to all his needs. To enable him to lead a full life as he chooses. We are offering a 16-32 hour contracted post. These will need to be worked flexibly according to the needs of the service. In addition to contracted hours there is also hourly paid work available on a casual basis. Role, Required Education, Skills and Qualifications: THE ROLE: As a Personal Assistant, your responsibilities will include: To encourage and enable service users to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health. To support service users to develop relationships to maintain contact with family and friends. To provide service users with the agreed necessary support to maximise their independence and to develop social and life skills. To provide clear and factual documentation. YOU: The successful Personal Assistant will: Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, service users and a range of stakeholders. Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature, experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with training required to carry out your duties. No experience is necessary but you will need to be flexible, confident, friendly, motivated and be able to demonstrate a person centred attitude and be sensitive to the needs of the individual.
