Overview
JOB ROLE: Health and Safety Manager JOB TYPE: Temporary 6 months HOURS: 37hrs per week, Monday-Friday SALARY: £15.47 per hour LOCATION: Dundee Pertemps Dundee is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well know Public Sector organisation, for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to take on an immediate 6 month temporary assignment. The post holder will be key to co-ordinating, supporting and advising on all aspects of health & safety. They will also establish, manage and monitor standards, processes and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with health and safety are adhered to. The Health and Safety Manager will lead on necessary training and engage with key stakeholders across company to ensure that the quality and operational delivery of statutory Health and Safety Policies and procedures are understood and implemented and ensure buildings and business area activities are compliant within current health and safety legislation and that best practice is conducted across the wider organisation. The position will be based in Dundee however, you will be expected to travel to Glasgow occasionally and visit Local Authority and Third Sector establishments throughout Scotland if required. Due to the nature of this role it is required for candidates to hold a Basic Disclosure certificate issued within the last 12 months or be willing to apply for one. Specific Duties: - Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety and working closely with Corporate and People Services and Trade Union representatives. - Promote best practice throughout company in respect of all health and safety matters and develop strategies to strengthen a culture of safety and health. - Develop, implement, maintain and monitor effective health and safety systems within company. - Working closely with staff at all levels to ensure H&S responsibilities are discharged. - Implement and monitor the full programme of documented health & safety inspections, inductions, audits and checks. - Review all current company health and safety documentation and implement new documentation as required. - Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, the investigation of accidents, incidents and near miss events to determine root cause, ensuring lessons are learnt and accidents are prevented from reoccurring. - Identifying risks and trends and taking appropriate action to eliminate, minimise or mitigate the risks that threaten company's operational capacity. - Identify health and safety training needs and provide/organise training programs. - Participate in the Health and Safety Committee and other working groups, liaising as necessary with other Teams, Trade Union Safety Representatives and providing technical guidance as required. - Ensure competent health and safety advice and support is provided to Local Delivery employees throughout Scotland when required.
