Overview

We are currently looking for a Signalling Design CRE to come and join us here at Aecom, one the world’s leading design consultancies in Rail and to join our large dynamic team focusing on multiple projects across the UK and worldwide. As the Signalling Principles Design Engineer, you will lead or undertake design activities as required. This will include directing the design team in producing outline and detailed signalling design, production of high-quality design to first principles, provision of technical mentorship, and verification of design produced by members of the design team. Key Responsibilities Include; Carry out design, design production checking, and independent checking of signalling systems as required Undertake the role of CRE(Design) / RDE Provide functional support and guidance to the Design Engineer(s) within the team on all aspects of signal design within allocated projects Participate in the preparation of technical details, specifications and tenders for signalling projects Monitor the progress of works and ensure that the development, design, construction and testing requirements are met and effect remedial action when required Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved Evaluate the quality and technical accuracy of tenders and make recommendations to obtain the best available commercial award for the company Commensurate with the project role, maintain a continuous communication with contractors and customers in the development and implementation of projects to ensure a uniformity of purpose and common targets On allocated projects participate in the planning, programming and monitoring of resources to meet programme and budget requirements and targets Assist in the forecast of resource requirements necessary for allocated projects in sufficient time to ensure that they can be provided Perform duties as directed by Management from time to time in connection with Signalling design activities Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the project Safety Plan Provide training to others. Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects. Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. Approves and signs off on work. Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts. Presents complex technical solutions to clients. Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Participates in development of technical proposals. Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects. Minimum Requirements: Competent in design production techniques. Broad experience of interlocking design and /or signalling scheme development CRE / RDE duties Preferred Qualifications: IRSE Licence holder for the Categories of: Signalling Principles - 1.1.550 and Design Verifier – 1.1.160 Your benefits will include: Helping our employees achieve a healthy work-life balance is important to us.
