Overview
SmithCorp are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to provide additional support to the Finance team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be numerate with a keen interest in developing a career in finance. They will have a minimum qualification of AAT Level 3, and may have begun studying towards a further accounting qualification e.g. AAT level 4, ACCA etc. They will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a similar accountancy role. This position is located in our central Truro office. You will be joining a five person finance team and working within a vibrant office in Truro city centre. We also provide social space for our employees to relax, eat and play in. What will the role entail? The Finance Assistant will report into the Finance Manager and support the smooth running of the Finance team and the wider business. Among the tasks the successful candidate may be required to own/assist in are as follows: Preparing and posting monthly accruals/prepayments/accounting adjustments in preparation for month end management accounts Updating and reconciling the fixed asset register to the company accounts and posting additions, disposals and depreciation monthly Performing monthly Trial Balance reviews, providing an explanation to any anomalies Assist with end of year preparation and procedures Assist with annual PSA and P11D analysis for submission to our auditors Monthly Balance sheet reconciliations Monthly inter-company matrix reconciliations Posting dividend journals through to Group level Production of monthly management accounts for SmithCorp Charitable Trust and SmithCorp Investments Ltd Responsible for the monthly processing of payroll for the entire SmithCorp Group, covering salaries, commissions, deductions, bonus payments, pensions Assist with adhoc duties given by the Finance Manager as and when required Other Requirements Strong Excel Skills Self-motivated Attention to detail Ability to learn quickly Exposure to Sage 200 is desirable but not essential Standard working hours are 8 hours per day between 8am-5pm with an hour for lunch.
