Overview

Interim Senior Commissioner/Social Worker The Children’s and Families Commissioning Hub is looking to recruit an interim Senior Commissioner. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Social Worker preferably with experience in Health and/ or Disability and an understanding of the needs of Children in Care. You will be self-motivated, organised and flexible to coordinate the work of the integrated hub, cutting across Placements and Health to ensure the services we commission significantly improve outcomes for young people and children in care/on the edge of care and their families. Working to the Lead Commissioner and Senior Commissioning manager you will lead, support and coordinate a number of high profile projects, acting as both challenger and supporter to your colleagues, thereby ensuring that all commissioned projects are robustly monitored and on course to meet set targets. Your skills as an outstanding team player will be critical to this role as you will be working with the whole commissioning hub, social care teams and a range of internal and external stakeholders on interlinked projects. The role requires you to be proactive working within a planned structure and framework utilising and developing commissioning and quality assurance skills. The role is also reactive, using robust audit and safeguarding knowledge and skills. The ability of the individual to engage, build relationships, challenge and see work through to completion is paramount. Whilst experience in the field of commissioning is desired it is equally important that you are able to demonstrate a wide range of transferable skills which may include being able to engage with social care workers at various levels. You will have an eye for detail and be able to write reports capable of presentation to a high level audience within tight deadlines. You will also be capable of supporting with the reconfiguration, coordination and facilitation of a range of multi-agency and internal Panels within the Children’s Hub. The role requires the alignment of experience from qualified Social Work focussing on compliance, quality assurance, audit and experience of implementing projects which reform, challenge and change the way services for children and young people are commissioned, structured and reviewed. We work to an integrated commissioning hub arrangement that aligns the objectives of the Clinical Commissioning Group and Gloucestershire County Council.
