Overview

We are currently searching for a Principal Systems engineer to join us here at Aecom based in Glasgow. This is an exciting position with opportunities to be exposed to a wide range of Rail infrastructure projects across the UK and overseas. Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer (or have started the registration process) with proven system safety planning and assessment experience. You will be part of the Rail Assurance and Advisory team. Job responsibilities include: Developing System Safety plans Development of system definitions Deliver hazard identification and hazard analysis requirements using appropriate hazard analysis types and techniques Development of safety measures and option selections Development and delivery of safety documents as required to support customer requirements Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and aspects of system design and development requirements Develop statements of work and work packages with clients Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others. Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects. Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package. Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings. Prepares technical specification sections. Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements. Minimum Requirements : Engineering degree or equivalent Have a working knowledge of and able to develop Risk Assessments Able to undertake HAZIDs/ HAZOPs and develop Safety Cases Hazard Record/Log management Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations Possess excellent oral and written communication skills Strive for technical excellence Preferred Qualifications : Chartered Engineer and member of a professional institution Railway Systems experience CSM-REA and TSI experience Knowledge of EN50126/8/9 Your benefits will include: Helping our employees achieve a healthy work-life balance is important to us.
