Overview

IT Operations Manager We have an exciting opportunity for an open minded individual, with a strong personality and presence, to assume responsibility for management of circa 10 engineers who provide 24x7 operations and operational support for a considerable infrastructure spanning multiple countries in Europe. The Operations Manager will have the ability to motivate the team as well as confront the difficulties that can be phased within a 24x7 operations environment. Ensuring that the team succeeds, ensures that the business will succeed. Regular European travel will be required. The IT Operations Manager be fluent in English and any other languages would be desirable, particularly those within Europe. Role and Responsibilities: Proactively leading the European Shared Services team as line manager of 8-12 Infrastructure engineers Responsibility for provision of 24x7 operations support for critical infrastructure services across Europe Driving key strategic goals in the areas of automation, infrastructure observability, process standardization and capacity planning across a variety of Infrastructure systems and services Partner with Support, Business and Application teams to troubleshoot and remediate problems Escalation point for regional Infrastructure leads across Europe Directly and indirectly manage and verify contingency planning, disaster recovery back-up procedures Assess/recommend ongoing improvement or re-engineering IT services & technologies Manage/optimise staff resourcing, hiring, training, & supervising IT staff Develop people and talents. Ensure that there are adequate training opportunities to grow Important: European travel required To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate: At least 5 years’ experience’ leading a team in charge of a 24x7 oriented production environment across multiple data centres Technical background with main focus on, and passion for leading and mentoring people Strong interpersonal skills to lead the daily activities of a technical team including management, mentoring and coaching Experience in dealing with different countries, cultures and the inherent difficulties in cross-border management Experience supporting Cisco based networks (incl. MPLS and SD-WAN), VMware and telephony, contact centre and video conference technologies Ability to effectively communicate effectively to senior management as well as end-users and suppliers/vendors Ability to manage, mentor and coach a team Good understanding of outsourcing and off/near shoring, building win/win strategies and contracts with suppliers/vendors Experience in project management and third party team management Experience in basic financial and asset administration, backend controls and common tools such as ITIL, Helpdesk, MS Office, MS Teams, etc. Experience in crisis management with ability to manage the matrix IT Operations Manager Due to the volume of applications received for positions, it will not be possible to respond to all applications and only applicants who are considered suitable for interview will be contacted.
