Housing Options Advisor

We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Housing Options Advisor, working at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a temporary full time role, initially for 6 months. The Role Your role will be to provide advice and assistance to customers, on their re-housing options to help prevent homelessness. Duties Managing the assessment of an applicant’s housing needs, using the practical interpretation of the Councils allocations policy and policy and parts VI and VII, of the housing act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002) and other legislation as required. Engage with and update the Councils Housing Register, the Disabled Persons Register and the database of all tenants needing to downsize. Ensure vacant properties are advertised appropriately and once the advertising cycle is closed, undertake the shortlisting of appropriate applicants for the properties adhering to relevant policies, procedures and legislation for social rented housing. Offer Advice on Housing Options related queries, which include the housing registration process, applying for a home, prospects advice and other housing options such as direct exchange private rented. To fully assess applications to the Council Housing Register, including identifying eligibility for the Councils Housing Register and Disabled Persons Register. Identifying reasonable preferences and send communications out to customers informing them to the outcome of their application. Input customer details onto the Housing Register, and disabled Persons Register. To carry out Periodic review of priority cases, to ascertain whether they should retain their priority status and action accordingly. Key Requirements Full UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle (desirable) Previous Housing Options Advisor and or Homelessness experience Excellent people skills, being able to talk to children and families and senior professionals Employee Benefits Reed Reward Benefits and Discounts Flexible Payment Options i.e. PAYE / Umbrella and Ltd options Weekly Pay, with Online Timesheet system
