Finance Associate/Graduate - NHS SBS Southampton Job Type - Permanent, Full Time Package - £21,000 3% flex fund, pension, life assurance, annual leave (25 days bank holidays) Working Hours - 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday Role Overview NHS SBS are looking to recruit a new graduate role into the finance and commercial department. The candidate will be highly motivated and self-driven with a desire to develop in a finance career whilst completing professional accountancy qualifications. The role will be ideal for someone either starting out or very early on in their finance career, who are looking to attain a professional accountancy qualification alongside a successful career within the finance sector NHS SBS has taken on a number of similar level graduate candidates over the last four years who have worked with strong mentors in the company to develop skills and experience that have allowed them to take opportunities in the finance team and other areas of the business. Today we provide finance, procurement, IT and employment services to around 40% of the NHS. Over 140 healthcare providers and arm’s length bodies - and every single commissioning organisation in the country - trust us to manage at least one of their corporate functions. Key Responsibilities ? Maintain key management accounts files for the business and ensure accuracy in reporting to senior management Assisting in Budgeting and Forecasting for the business and meeting with managers, challenging performance and supporting decision making Carrying out core accounting responsibilties such as balance sheet reconcilliations, managing accruals and prepayments, invoicing and other activities to manage the ledger Completing and interpreting variance analysis on company performance Develop and maintain financial model(s) of business performance Completing tasks and responsabilities to tight deadlines whilst managing stakeholders expectations Deputising for others in the team as required to cover key roles Essential Skills Be educated to a degree level (Minimum grade required 2.1) You will be a talented, bright individual with a natural aptitude for finance, data, reporting and analysis Flexible and adaptable to cope with a fast paced environment in a large organisation Experience with Microsoft Office software particularly Excel, Word, Power Point preferred but not essential Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and present variance analysis Ability to manage multiple tasks at once Comitted to studying towards a professional accountancy qualification You will also be a very strong communicator, who actively seeks to build working relationships with peers, clients, colleagues. We aren’t necessarily looking for a long list of experience but some understanding of what it takes to work in a senior finance role would help.
