Salary: £8.50 to £8.70 an hour |

Overview
Would you like to earn some extra money? Are you looking for a new opportunity and a chance to make a positive difference to children's lives? Then you're probably just the person we need. You'll be part of a bank of Relief Support Workers at our residential children's home, where we support young people with autism and severe learning disabilities. Relief (bank) staff cover shifts when permanent members of staff are off rota, and during periods of additional need. Shifts could include days, evenings and weekends. There is no obligation to accept any shifts offered and we will try and find a good work/life balance preparing rotas the month before. Part of a close-knit team, you'll work with children and young people aged 11 to 19, supporting them with their daily lives and encouraging them to take part in community activities and hobbies. On weekdays, they go to our onsite school, so support is mostly outside school hours. You may have been a care worker or healthcare assistant before, but if not don’t worry, you don’t need experience – so long as you have the right approach, we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you to gain your Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (free of charge), alongside other specialist training all provided on site by MacIntyre. Maybe this is the opportunity you've been looking for, to experience a different career to see if this is the right one for you About us MacIntyre is a award-winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. We use person centred approaches to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies ensures we see the person first, not their behaviour or learning disability. Some things you need to know You’ll be supporting young people who have complex needs and may show challenging behaviour. Our specialist teams will support you to learn ways of helping them manage this behaviour. You must be willing to provide personal care where needed. Ideally you will have a full driving licence as you may be asked to drive service vehicles and obviously you will need to get to and from work - our children's home is in a rural location.
