About the role This is a 17 month secondment / fixed term contract. Do you get a real buzz out of being organised? Do you love getting into the detail and have an ability to work to tight deadlines? If so, you could be the Project Assistant we're looking for to support a major project to create a joint Control Room for East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey Fire and Rescue Services. About the role West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) joined Surrey FRS Fire Control in December 2019 to form a new joint control, taking 999 calls and mobilising assets for both Surrey FRS and West Sussex FRS. East Sussex FRS will join Surrey and West Sussex Joint Fire Control in 2021. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Assistant to work on this innovative project. Working with the Project Manager, you will be liaising with East and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Services, suppliers, work stream leads and internal departments. You will be required to organise and attend regular project meetings, with responsibility for taking notes and ensuring action plans are written up and communicated post-meetings. You will have oversight for the administration of the project documentation. You will assist in the production of project management plans and programmes. You will collect updates to enable project monitoring and you will provide general administrative support. To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence experience of diary management, meeting facilitation and data collection. You will be able to work effectively and collaborate with people at all levels and from all backgrounds and have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Previous experience of project administration would be beneficial but not essential. The post holder may be required to travel to attend meetings across Surrey and in East and West Sussex.
