Overview

Advice and Advocacy Coordinator (Male survivors) £25,000 37.5 hours per week Fixed term contract until August 2021 The West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network (WMASN) CIC connects the various agencies involved in tackling modern day slavery in the West Midlands and beyond. We aim to develop an effective regional multi agency anti-slavery network to raise awareness, reduce the threat and harm of slavery and rescue and support victims of slavery in the West Midlands geographical area. Developing strategic partnerships and collaborations with other regional, national and international organisations to tackle modern day slavery, including networks, partnerships, agencies and learning establishments is key to the Network achieving its aim. We are recruiting for a rewarding and engaging Advice and Advocacy Coordinator (Male survivors) role. The role will require the postholder to take responsibility for the immediate support, safety, and referral pathways for male adult survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery post rescue and/or prior to a National Referral Mechanism (NRM) referral. The successful candidate will manage a client caseload (and the associated deadlines, record keeping and prioritisation of tasks), promoting the wellbeing and safety of their clients, as well as assisting them to make informed decisions about their future. You will be working directly with potential survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery, identifying and responding to their immediate needs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the safe house. You will have a good understanding and awareness of the rights and entitlements of migrants, trafficked persons, asylum seekers and refugees, have knowledge of the National Referral Mechanism and have proven experience of working with clients with complex needs (drug and alcohol issues, mental health diagnosis). Experience working with survivors of modern slavery either paid or voluntary is desirable, but not essential, as is experience of working in a safe house. The post holder will be required to be part of the on-call rota and respond to crisis situations at the house outside of normal working hours when required. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
