Are you a recent graduate looking to kick-start your career? Then Waltham Forest, are looking for a Technical and Project Support Intern to join the Enjoy Waltham Forest (Mini Holland) Project development Team. Please ensure that you can travel to Walthamstow before applying for the position. The Role You will have the opportunity to be involved in the Enjoy Waltham Forest (Mini-Holland) walking and cycling programme. You will provide technical and project support across a range of infrastructure and behaviour change projects and initiatives to increase the number of people travelling by active and sustainable modes of transport. Some of the key tasks and deliverables of the internship include, but are not limited to; General project support : Development of project management frameworks and systems for monitoring and tracking projects. Assist in the production of high quality and timely briefings, reports and presentations that are pitched suitably for the relevant audience. Organise meetings and produce relevant meeting material (e.g. agendas and minutes). Assist in organising and managing high-profile Enjoy Waltham Forest events. Assist in organising and coordinating public engagement and consultation activities at sites across Waltham Forest, including the preparation of materials Regular site visits; photographic surveys, siting posters, etc Assist with correspondence relating to the programme Supporting other project and administrative work as required Technical support and analysis: Administration of various databases and project monitoring systems relating to different aspects of the programme Analysis of engagement and consultation data. Assist with technical analysis of complex traffic and highways data Assist in the preparation of maps and plans in order to present data and information graphically Assist in the preparation of a variety of reports and briefings, including technical analysis reports and detailed consultation reports Assist in the development and design of highway infrastructure and public realm improvement projects, including the use of computer aided design packages where possible. Proactively contribute ideas during the development of projects and initiatives and provide feedback in all aspects of the role. Undertake a range of site surveys and assessments with Project Managers/Engineers during the development of projects Assist building our online presence, and managing a number of services to our residents and businesses through more web-based channels Benefits of the Internship The internship programme is very successful and many interns have gone on to take more senior roles in engineering, transport planning and sustainable and active travel. You will be encouraged to attend a range of internal and external training courses to support your development in transport planning. The Candidate The role provides a great opportunity for the appointed candidate to develop their skills and experience in highways/traffic/public realm scheme assessment, feasibility, planning, design and implementation. While not essential, experience or relevant qualifications in an Engineering, Transport, Geography or Urban Design discipline would be advantageous. Experience with GIS and/or Computer Aided Design software would also be beneficial.
