Overview
Could you coach and mentor someone to set up a business? That’s a tall ask. But a rewarding one. You will be working with people who are usually looking to set up a micro business. People who want to go it alone. Be self-employed. They have an idea. They just need you to help support that. Based mostly out of Croydon, a typical week might look like: Monday: Go to Croydon Job Centre to talk to job seekers about the option of going self-employed and how this programme can support them. Tuesday: Attend event at Chelsea Football club as your last cohort launch their new businesses ventures that you helped to set up. Wednesday: One to one’s all day, helping your clients with cash flow forecasts and survival budgets. Thursday: Talking to new sign ups and helping map out their business plan Friday: Providing phone based support to people who have launched their business but might need help around marketing, finance or have an HMRC query. You will need to have experience of coaching and mentoring people to set up a business, with good experience of writing a business plan and creating cash flow forecasts. A SFEDI qualification is great, but not essential. As are employment advisors who might have specialised in self-employment support.
