Overview

Psychiatric intensive care units (PICU) are inpatient psychiatric wards offering 24 hour admissions for patients suffering from acute mental disorders and experiencing a crisis. Our aim on a PICU is to offer rapid admission, stabilisation and then discharge back to either their home or local area. Your role with us Healthcare Assistants are extremely important in helping our patients recover As Healthcare assistants working in a PICU, you will be supporting staff teams in delivering and focusing on our Patients and their , daily activities and care. The role can be quite active and challenging and we would therefore require you to be able to cope with the demands of an active post. You will have the support required to succeed in this role, you will receive monthly supervision along with weekly reflective practice sessions. When you first join you will me allocated a ‘mentor’ who you will be working closely with. There are also lots of training opportunities to support you as well. There is the opportunity for you to apply to our Aspire Programme, a nursing bursary programme, which could support you while training to be a qualified nurse. Each year we provide the financial and development support for 20 of our employees to gain a Nursing Degree. Your profile There are no set entry requirements to become a Healthcare Assistant but there are skills and personal characteristics needed.
