Overview
Do you share our passion for empowering all individuals to possess the oracy and English language skills they need to achieve their aspirations? English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated individual to join our Board of Trustees/Board of Directors, ensuring the organisation’s good governance and strategic direction. English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. is an awarding body regulated by Ofqual and the other UK jurisdictional qualification regulators. Our products are English Language and Oracy (speaking and listening) qualifications. In the financial year 2018-2019 we assessed approximately 70,000 learners across 13 countries, with 45% of our learners being in the UK. Over 95% of our work uses an external assessment model and therefore we create, assess, administer and certificate from a suite of 80 qualifications. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to help us identify and exploit our strategic direction, as well as a keen understanding of governance. They will have the ability to think creatively, offer new insights and to bring an understanding of the principles, ethics and practices of successful organisations. We are especially (though not exclusively) looking to attract individuals with the following skills: financial management, risk and strategic planning. Most importantly, they will care as much about our learners achieving their potential, as we do. It is an opportunity to have a positive impact on a charitable organisation which aims to realise the potential of all by closing the disadvantage gap. The Board, together with key staff, currently meets four times a year (usually on a Saturday) in Central London, for about four hours. Trustees receive a full induction.
