Overview
This business is part of a global group, which specialises in making accessible daily living products for the elderly, and people with a disability or reduced mobility. As part of their succession management programme, they are looking for a Mandarin speaking Engineering graduate to join the team. Your degree should be in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline, and as there will be daily contact with China, and some occasional travel there, written and spoken fluency in Mandarin and English is essential. It’s a varied role, and you will be: · Designing new products including preparing drawings, bill of materials and specifications plus testing prototypes and initial off tool samples. · Supporting existing products with updates to improve performance and quality, and reduce costs. This will also include BOM, specification and drawing updates. · Responding to and resolving Engineering help desk issues. You should have decent knowledge of a recognised 3D CAD package, ideally SolidWorks but training to convert from an alternative package would be available. This is a key pivot position within the business: you will be liaising with Chinese suppliers on new product development; expediting tooling; improving existing products and addressing potential quality issues. This aspect of the role is likely to involve 2-4 visits per year (each visit lasting approximately 2 weeks) to China with members of the Senior Leadership team. The preference is for you to be based full-time on the Isle of Man; however, a possible alternative would be to work from the Midlands office, which is based just outside Birmingham. You would then be working in the Isle of Man around one week a month. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate. Sound good?
