magic42 is looking for a Graduate Web Developer to join our in house development team. We are growing our internal development capability in light of new customers being on-boarded and exciting projects in the pipeline. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious and tech loving individual that is looking to kick start a career in Web Development. If you have recently graduated with a technical degree, you have strong object oriented programming skills and have a real passion for well written and clean code magic42 has the perfect role for you! LOCATION : Birmingham, easily commutable from Leamington Spa, Warwick, Rugby, Nuneaton, Smethwick, Sutton Coldfield, West Bromwich, Stourbridge, Walsall, Coventry, Solihull, Wolverhampton As our Graduate Web Developer you will: * Get involved in a variety of projects for different clients and solve diverse problems using the best tools available * Take responsibility for delivering end to end user stories, from requirements through to testing and deployment as part of an Agile web development team (using the Scrum process) * Be involved in the full cycle of projects from planning to development and testing web applications * Work closely with the development Team Leads and the Web Development Manager to design robust and efficient web applications Key technologies you will be exposed to: PHP, MySQL, Magento, Shopify, Zend Framework, Ubuntu/Debian Linux, Apache, Nginx, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, git, JQuery, REST, JSON, XML, Puppet, Vagrant and much more. ( We Love Open Source! ) Requirements About You: * You are well versed in any OO programming language : PHP, Java, C# etc and have a keen interest in cross training in other OO programming languages * You are a recent graduate with a degree in an IT related subject (degrees in Computer Science or Software Engineering with a 1st or 2:1 are preferred) * You have great educational and practical experience using OOP (object oriented programming ) and you have a portfolio of projects you've worked on and code samples to demonstrate your skills * You are familiar with working in a Linux environment with open source technologies * You can demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and you have a desire to work in a team based commercial environment * You have a passion for IT, web and software technologies * Web development industry experience (internship or placement year) would be highly advantageous Benefits As a business magic42 celebrates diversity and inclusion.
