Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clients expanding team as a TRAINEE SURVEYOR dealing with domestic insurance claims providing estimating, surveying, pre-work surveying and project management of all domestic insurance works, which can include all projects up to and including the value of £250,000. Salary will be dependent on experience. A Company Car will be provided once training is complete. Key Responsibilities when fully trained: Full ownership of all domestic insurance works from inception to project completion; Ability to change specification if there is scope to do so and manage the approval of variations to contracts to ensure the continuance of work on projects; Commercial acumen and understanding the needs of the Business; Application and management of monthly valuations including verifying payments to nominated sub-contractors and, where appropriate, checking material costs against budget; Monitor variations including managing provisional sums & contingencies etc; Manage all issues that may give rise to a contractual claim; Prepare final accounts including measurement and pricing adjustments of prime and provisional sums, valuation and agreement of day works, settlement and agreement of any claims arising out of the Contract; Liaison with other Teams and the Management Team to ensure all deadlines are adhered to and Contract targets achieved; Attend all pre-start and site visits as and when requested by the Directors and the Client; Carry out regular daily & weekly site audits to ensure that works are progressing in accordance with the specification and the programme; Ensure Customer Service and Focus is at the forefront of all operational plans; At all times maintain a professional image both with internal colleagues and external customers and suppliers and sub-contractors; Effectively organise and prioritise own workload, use own initiative to ensure that tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner; Flexibility to be prepared to work outside normal office hours as required according to the needs of the Business and to work at other locations as required; Various ad-hoc responsibilities as required from time to time; Essential Experience: Knowledge of the domestic insurance industry an advantage Knowledge of building Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent IT skills Clean Driving Licence Excellent Salary and Benefits including: 20 Days Holiday plus Bank Holidays Company Car when fully trained Enrolment to the Company Pension Scheme
