Excellent opportunity for a commercial technology lawyer with an interest in life sciences in join a future facing law firm. About the role Our TMT/Life Sciences groups have an opportunity for a business-focused lawyer to join our prestigious technology team which is ranked Tier 1 in Legal 500 as well as having a number of members of the team ranked individually as Leading Practitioners in their own area of specialism. The team operates as a seamless unit between the firm's offices in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Edinburgh and Glasgow, advising on a broad range of matters for clients ranging from large blue chip organisations to smaller commercial entities. The team advises across a number of sectors and this lawyer's focus would be on technology within TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications) and Life Sciences. The role includes: - Involvement in a broad range of commercial, IP, IT and data protection matters - Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts such as collaboration, licensing, supply and distribution agreements - Providing efficient professional support for partners - Developing professional relationships with clients - Supporting the wider team in developing business and raising profile of the firm - Involvement in marketing events About you You will have excellent analytical skills and experience of running your own files and assisting partners on more complex, higher value deals and transactions along with sound judgement and good interpersonal and consultancy skills. Due to the role being client facing, experience and confidence in dealing directly with clients is essential. - Degree/CPE/LPC/GDL (or equivalent) - Knowledge of IP, IT, technology and data protection issues in addition to having developed strong general commercial expertise - Appropriate level of post qualification experience in a City, major Regional or leading international firm, to meet the demands of the role we envisage this to be 5PQE - Experience in handling clients in major blue chip companies - Excellent drafting skills and the ability to translate legal theory into practical advice - Due to the role being client facing you will need to have sound judgment and good interpersonal and consultancy skills - Knowledge of, and/or experience in, the life sciences sector - Understanding of the life sciences regulatory regime would be helpful but is not essential About us CMS are delighted to be named Law Firm of the Year at the 2018 British Legal Awards.
