General Operative - Sponsored Reserve Southampton based £23,063 bonus Permanent Role Are you looking for a new and exciting career for a leading port company? If YES then this could be your perfect job opportunity This unique client are looking for General Port Operatives to work on a permanent basis in Southampton, offering long term stability and an opportunity to see the world. The successful Port Operative will be supporting port operations within the facility, which will include the mooring of vessels, loading/unloading and securing of cargo. In addition, all port operatives working in this location must be accepted into the Sponsored Reserves. As a Sponsored Reserve, you will be employed by my client on a full time contract as General Terminal Operator and will be deployed with the Army when required. As a Sponsored Reservist you will be mobilised to deliver military port services whilst under the military command. Full support and training will be provided to fulfil the roles and in addition you will be required to obtain additional qualifications in the relevant trades including NVQ's. As a Sponsored Reservist, the job is to provide trained Port Operatives able to carry out the loading/ discharging of vessels on a Global basis. Deployments will last anywhere up to six months and will include post deployment leave. You'll operate in any port worldwide including the Falklands Islands and you will be given full training and support. You will then be offered additional loyalty bonuses year on year of up to £1,700 (tax free). Additionally you will have the opportunity to travel the world with this employer from anything from a couple of days to up to six months. Assignments may be to Africa, Middle East, Europe and America, and when working abroad you will benefit from an additional payment of £1,000 per month Due to the specialist nature of this vacancy, there are various essential requirements. You must: Have a British passport Resided in the UK for the last 5 years Full UK driving Must be able to pass a strict medical Flexible towards working hours Transferable skills To work in compliance with safety, environmental and security policies Able to pass a full DBS check It is also desirable that you have your GCSE English and Mathematics grade A - G, and you will be required to undertake a literacy and numeracy test. You will also be required to attend and successfully complete basic military and trade specific training.
