Male and female applicants will be assigned for selection at What If Male, however only female applicants will be assigned for selection at our What If Female project. This is exempt under Section 9(2)(b) of the Employment (Sex Discrimination) Act 2000. Quarriers What If Female Service support 16 young women aged 18-25 years and is based in the north of the city. The young women are accommodated in project flats, with a project base and a staff sleepover flat being in close proximity. Quarriers What If Male Project provides a specialist supported accommodation service, which consists of housing and therapeutic support to young males between the ages of 18 – 25 years old. The service provides 24 hour support to 12 young men between the ages of 18 - 25 years old who are affected by homelessness, and have been unable to use existing supports to change the direction of their lives. The young men supported by the service also have a range of complex support needs; they do not fit into traditional support services and have been excluded from many of them due to their chaotic behaviour and lifestyle. Quarriers have Investors in People Platinum accreditation and are one of only two social care organisations in Scotland to have this prestigious award. We also pay sleepover hours at £9.00 per hour. We are looking for a Transition Mentor’s to provide comprehensive housing and therapeutic support to young males referred to the project; elements include assessment of need, emotional support, advice, practical support and advocacy. The successful candidate has a number of key objectives and accountabilities including: To ensure that the young people supported by the project receive the best possible service at all times. To ensure young people who use the service receive a high level of individual attention, in terms of support, advocacy and inter-agency representation. To help develop a co-operative relationship with all other relevant agencies and providers to maximise the potential benefit to the young people using the service. To contribute to the formation of operational policy and to the development of practice within the service. To create a safe, nurturing and enabling environment. To be aware of the content of all young people’s support plans and offer assistance as directed by the keyworker or management team. To work directly with young people within the service, offering support using the widest range of individual and group work methods. To work collaboratively with outside agencies where appropriate and as directed by keyworkers or managers. To undertake duties as designated by keyworkers or managers related to young people in accordance with the project’s established policy and practice. To record all work undertaken to a high standard of accuracy and detail. To participate in team meetings where possible and necessary, and all other forums aimed at developing policy and practice within the service To participate actively in either individual or group supervision as organised by the management team Please note that IT skills are required for all Quarriers vacancies. It is preferable that candidates have a full driving licence and access to their own transport. Where applicable, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
