Applications Engineer – Manchester £40k - £50k base package Applications Engineer – Manchester The Company GMA Technical are delighted to be supporting a fantastic business in recruiting for an Applications Engineer As an independent pump company, specialising in supporting Pump OEMs, they can design, build and test bespoke engineered pumps. Providing a high standard of customer service and technical support with the emphasis on delivering pump performance improvements, their in-house test bed enables pump performance to be verified against known test data and any improvements to be quantified. Due to the next phase of growth, and to enable even greater support to their customer base, they are looking to recruit a highly skilled Applications Engineer. The Role Based at their head office in Manchester, as the applications engineer you will be responsible for managing enquiries to order receipt regards pump applications. Key duties and responsibilities will include · Preparing solutions around novel ideas to difficult pumping applications. · Identifying opportunities within existing equipment to improve pump performance and reliability. · Reviewing tender documents/specifications received from OEM customer and completing application sizing. · Preparing commercial offers for pumps to various international design codes and customer specifications. · Preparation of tender conceptual drawings using 3d modelling software – Autodesk Inventor. · Creating of pump performance curve for submission with tenders. · Generating detailed costings of solutions and creating opportunity to deliver good profit margins within offers. · Preparing and submitting order winning tenders along with all necessary supporting documentation. · Communicating with the customer from enquiry to order receipt, with occasional visits out to customer sites when required. · Liaising with subcontractors/suppliers if required and internal support functions to ensure projects are delivered in-line with customer expectations. The Candidate To be successful in achieving the position of Applications Engineer you 1) Will be commutable to Manchester. 2) Will be from a strong mechanical engineering background. 3) Will have worked for a Pump manufacturing/OEM or independent business having worked in tendering, quotations, in a customer-oriented role. 4) May have previous experience in pump design/applications/projects 5) Will be looking to develop your skills and knowledge in order to take on further responsibility 6) Will have a commercial outlook and can work with entrepreneurial flair. 7) Will be motivated by building a career, in a fast growing, exciting and dynamic business.
